The Igloo EKU-ROG-WHT ICE108-SILVER is your average, run of the mill, 26 pounds per day ice maker. What really sets it apart is the fact that it has a very large window on the door and the fact that it has received nothing but very positive reviews, earning it a top rating. Other than that it is actually what you might expect from a portable ice maker, which make no mistake, is definitely a good thing. A batch of ice is finished in just six minutes, and the cubes are actually square instead of bullet shaped like other ice makers.
Ice Cubes that are Actually Cubes
If you are a frozen water purist and demand that your ice cubes are ACTUALLY shaped like cubes, then this is the right ice maker for you. Of course, they aren’t going to look like cubes that come out of a tray in your freezer. They still have the telltale indentation in the center where the metal rod was placed to freeze the water into ice. Whether you want square cubes or bullet cubes is just a matter of preference and doesn’t tie into performance or any other characteristic of the machine. Therefore, I cannot say whether this is necessarily a good thing or a bad thing.
There are LED indicators to let you know when the ice basket is full or when you need to add more water. This is quite a bit more straightforward than some models that try to incorporate a fancy LCD screen but fail to provide an intuitive display system. I prefer the LED lights myself. Either the light is on, or it’s not; it is just that simple.
The push-button controls make operating this device extremely easy. All you have to do is select the size of your ice and press start. Before you know it this little puppy will be pounding out more ice than Walter White from Breaking Bad. The only downside is that if this unit gets unplugged or loses power during a power outage, you will have to manually select the size of the ice again and get it started again. Other than that there aren’t any downsides to the push-button design.
Air Cooled Compressor
The compressor is air cooled and this device vents out the side, as you can see in the picture above. It’s important to make sure that the vented side is free from any obstructions. Otherwise, the compressor may overheat. Overheating your compressor on a regular basis could damage it and will lower its life expectancy overall.
Compact Portable Design
This unit is compact and portable. However, it would probably do you some good to take the measurements and do a reality check against where you plan to place this machine. Not only do you need to account for the footprint of the device, but you will also need to leave room for the ventilation.

This is the best ice machine I’ve ever owned in my life this is the best it makes us very very quickly is very quiet I love not have to go to the store and took those large bags of ice thank you for making this
This is so easy to use. Pull out of box, clean, plug in, add water and it does the rest. It lets you know what size of cube (small and large), if the ice bin is full and if it needs more water. I bought this as a gift for my 82 year old mother and she loves how easy it is. It makes more than enough for her and she keeps putting ice a snack up in her freezer!
Our ice maker on our refrigerator was one of our favorite features. Unfortunately it quit working after about 10 years. The cost to repair/replace the ice maker was way too much. I purchased this portable ice maker as a Christmas gift for the family and it works great! I started using it right away and it was making ice within 15-20 minutes. I had read about the ice having a bad smell for the first few batches but I did not experience that at all. The ice basket is small but it makes ice so quickly it does not bother us. I let the basket fill, empty the ice into a zip lock back and stick it in the freezer. I can fill a gallon size zip lock back in a couple hours. The ice is a little wet so it does stick together but I just bang the bag on the counter (not hard) and it breaks it right up. I use the large size ice cubes and they are perfect. They are shaped like a bullet, about the size of a man’s thumb and hollow. This has been the best appliance I have purchased in a long time and I am a gadget junkie.
Frequently Asked Questions
In this section, I’m going to do my best to answer some of the most frequently asked questions regarding this model.
Does it need to be hooked up to a water line?
No, absolutely not. I’m sure some of the handiest individuals out there could find a way to hook up a water line. However, it’s not necessary to do so. You can just add water manually and get lots of fresh ice fast.
How big is the ice that this machine produces?
The ice is not very big at all. The smallest size is about the size of a jolly rancher. The small size and soft consistency make it perfect for anyone who likes to chew on ice all day. I know a lot of people would rather eat ice than drink water and this unit would be perfect for those individuals.
Does it have a drain and come with an ice scoop?
Yes, it does have a drain that is located on the bottom of the reservoir. You can’t see it in the pictures because it’s not on the side like a lot of other models do. Yes, it also has an ice scoop that makes harvesting the cubes super quick and easy.
Does this model have a water filter?
No, this model does NOT have a built-in water filter, although I do believe this would be an excellent option. Like every other ice maker, I would recommend using filtered or distilled water. This will help prevent any buildup that could hinder performance or completely clog the water pump down the road.
Does this machine have a low water and full ice indicator?
Yes, there are indicator lights located on the top of this machine near the controls. If you look at the picture, you can see them across the top of the black bar behind the door.
